During the Renaissance, Rudolf II was known as "the greatest art patron in the world." And as King of Hungary and Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor, it wasn't long before his passion for collecting turned Prague into the center of European art and culture during the 17th-century. In addition to paintings and sculptures, Emperor Rudolf had a passion for jewelry. He was especially smitten with the Bohemian garnets created in his home country that became fashion sensations around the world.
The king would have adored our treatment of his favorite gemstone. Inspired by treasured pieces from the National Museum in Prague, our designer crafted a sumptuous tribute to the scarlet beauty. Our Garnet & Seed Pearl Ring features a 2-1/5 carat, brilliant-cut garnet set in 14K gold vermeil, surrounded by a cluster of luminescent vanilla seed pearls. The bright shimmer of the seed pearls and gold vermeil band make the fiery red gemstone really pop. The Garnet & Seed Pearl Pendant is similarly designed, with a vibrant, 2 carat garnet surrounded by a burst of 16 seed pearls. The perfect pairing is set in gold vermeil and dangles from an 18" gold vermeil chain (with 2" extender) that fastens with a spring ring clasp. A luxurious look fit for Renaissance royalty...with a commoner's price tag.
