For over 1,000 years, scientists from the brilliant to the batty have been searching for a way to turn base materials into shimmering gold. Even St. Thomas Aquinas and Isaac Newton looked for a way to spin simple ingredients into gold. Now with gold prices at record highs, the search seems more alluring than ever! So Stauer ventured off to Venice, home to artisans who are masters of blowing glass using centuries-old techniques. They found a way to blow a glass bubble around 24K gold leaf and create a beautiful beaded necklace that looks like it costs ten times its actual price. The glass blowing magnifies the appearance of the 24K gold. If this 17" necklace was 24K solid gold it would cost well over $5,000. The glass factories around Venice are known to blow the most beautiful glassworks on earth. This is Italian craftsmanship at its most creative. Our magic is that the gold is encased in the glass blowing and the beads sparkle with an antique brushed gold hue. All pieces available in either yellow or white gold.
