I grew up in an era when timepieces were handed from one generation to the next. They weren't all priceless antiques, but they looked classic and they were built to last. More than twenty years ago, I started Stauer with the idea that if I couldn't find affordable watches inspired by the craftsmanship of the past, I would just make them myself.
The Stauer Fortuna is based on a gold automatic my uncle loved to show off. When I was a boy it felt like it weighed a ton. I could stare at it for hours. The 20-jewel Fortuna Automatic features a sturdy, gold-fused stainless steel case with an exhibition back for viewing the escapement and balance wheel. And it never needs batteries or manual winding because it's powered by the movement of your body.
The exquisitely etched, antique ivory face features bold Roman numerals and an opening near the 12 o'clock position for watching the flywheel in action. Complications at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock mark the day of the week and the month, while a scallop-shaped gauge tracks the date just above the 6 o'clock position. The dark brown croc-embossed genuine leather strap fits wrists 6-3/4"- 8-1/4". The Fortuna is water-resistant to 3 ATMs
We improved what made classic watches great while keeping our updated versions affordable. You could say that we took the good old days... and made them even better!
