Ordered my first watch from Stauer about a month ago - a Graves 33 stainless. It arrived in about a week and looked great. Unfortunately, the manual day advance button did not work, so I sent it back the next day. Today, I received the replacement watch (a new Graves 33) and everything works. I used the $100 gift certificate to buy a ladies worth avenue diamond watch for my wife, and she likes it.
The Graves 33 is an impressive looking watch, I like the seven hands and the 1930''s look. I do not plan to wear the watch when doing manual labor or working in confined spaces, as I tend to be hard on watches and wish to avoid breaking the somewhat exposed band pins, crown or buttons. I am overall satisfied with the product and the service from Stauer. If the watch quits or does not perform as expected during the next year, I will update this review. So far, I am amazed at how such a watch as this can be assembled for under $100! |

First, let me say that I own six Stauer watches and plan to buy more. The Graves is a fine looking watch, keeps great time, and is a joy, but it has one major flaw, the buttons that advance the day, date, and month are too easy to press by accident. When I put the watch on in the morning, I set everything accurately, but by noon, some of the hands have advanced because of my movements (I have a desk job). A great watch, but I now avoid watches that have these sorts of buttons on them. However, many of Stauer''s watches use a different type of mechanism for setting, so I stick to those other watches. |
