Engineers build a timepiece with a rare moon phase movement at a price that is truly heavenly.

Even though the moon has no hour or minute hand, it has its own internal clock. But for watchmakers, engineering a clock to measure both lunar and earthly time has been only accomplished by a select few craftsmen. Our new moon phase movement might have been one small step for Stauer, but it's one giant leap for the watch collector. The Luna29 Moon Phase is a true breakthrough in innovation at a stellar price.
Recently an important Moon Phase watch sold at auction for over $125,000, but we think that we can save you about 99.8% with a watch that is more than 99.995% accurate. Those are numbers that add up pretty well. So if you want to know the precise time or find out when the next full moon is so you can navigate your sloop through the changing tides, Stauer has got you covered.
Since earthly time is measured at regular 12 month intervals, the moon's month is at odds with our calendar. A lunar month is 29.53 days, so a moon phase watch needs to keep time in two totally different ways. Antique watch collectors highly value this rare type of complex movement.
The understated vintage design of our Luna29 timepiece belies the complexity of the movement. This design combines the time-honored tradition of multi-function watches that are setting record high prices in the most distinguished auction houses. The watch was designed with assistance from Hartwig Balke, a renowned watch engineer. The present watch boasts a combination of three rare complications: a standard monthly calendar, a day of the week indicator and the moon's phases are graphically depicted. The impressive coin edged case, layered in 18k rose gold, pays tribute to the firm's legendary neoclassical designs. To the best of our knowledge, only six other boutique watchmakers can build the complex moon phase movement.
This is the first time the present example has been offered directly to collectors. It is among Stauer's most iconic multifunction wristwatches. Our engineering team indicates that fewer than 2,500 examples can be produced from the current mold. The timepiece underwent four main evolutions, each introducing a new innovation on the precise engineering.
This is a limited edition of 2,499 pieces, so please don't wait. This kind of watch only comes around once in a blue moon.
