Luscious raspberry rhodolite garnets take center stage

Discover this rosy-hued member of the garnet family

When you give her red garnets, you are giving her more than a beautiful gemstone — you’re giving her a piece of history. Garnet was adored by the ancient Greeks and Romans and was often used as a talisman for protection on the battlefield. Associated with the heart and life force, garnet has long been considered a symbol of love. It was even said a large red garnet adorned the ring of the legendary Don Juan. But the specific variety of garnet known as rhodolite arrived on the scene much later.

In the late 1890s, mineralogist William Earl Hidden discovered rhodolite in the Cowee Valley in Macon County, North Carolina. Rhodolite garnet was named after the pink rhododendron flower that is native to the state it was found in. Lighter in hue than most other red garnets, rhodolite can be distinguished from its darker red siblings thanks to its rich rose-to-raspberry tones and subtle purple variations. Crafted of .925 sterling silver and drenched in a lustrous 18K gold, each piece showcases generous cabochons of rhodolite garnet accented with dazzling white topaz. Delight her with a piece or two and see how beautifully romance takes shape.
