Gemstone of the century
When tanzanite debuted in 1967, it was a sensation. Unlike other gemstones, which are mined all over the world, tanzanite can be found in only one place on Earth: in the remote Merelani Hills in the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. According to legend, a bolt from the sky set the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro ablaze, revealing the sparkling violet-blue of Tanzanite below the surface.
Tanzanite is no ordinary gemstone. Henry Platt, president and chairman of Tiffany & Company called Tanzanite, “The most important gemstone discovery in over 2,000 years.’’
Scientists say Tanzanite is 1000 times rarer than diamonds. “Experts estimate that our tanzanite deposits will have run out in 30 years,” says prominent mining company Tanzanite One.
In recent years, top-quality tanzanite gems have fetched higher prices at auction than rubies, emeralds or diamonds! But because we buy direct and use our own designers, we are able to offer our valuable clients this rare beauty for far less than our competitors. What makes tanzanite so irrisistable is its beautiful violet blue color. It’s unlike any color you’ve seen. A color that mimics a gorgeous mixture of the best sapphire, amethyst and blue topaz. Tanzanite is also trichroic—which means that three different colors are visible when the stone is viewed from different angles.
Our Tanzanite Sensation Necklace features 200 carats of this rare gemstone in a classic round cut. The gemstones are arranged in graduating sizes elevating it a step above a standard strand necklace. A perfect 20″ for ultimate wearability that closes securely with a box-style clasp in tarnish-free sterling silver.
