A sacred moment
If you enter St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City and look inside the first chapel on the right, you’ll see Michelangelo’s Pietà sculpture, one of the most famous religious artworks ever created. It depicts Jesus after the Crucifixion, in the arms of his mother, Mary. Michelangelo sculpted the Pietà, a style of artistic expression that translates to “Pity,” over two years in 1498 and 1499, using one single piece of marble from the famed Carrara quarry.
He created this masterpiece when he was only 23 and it’s the only work Michelangelo ever signed. Our Pietà sculpture is a careful reproduction of Michelangelo’s masterpiece. Handmade by Italian artisans who understand their craft, this sculpture was created using enhanced marble from the very same Carrara quarry Michelangelo chose in the late 15th century. The provenance of the marble gives this Pietà an extra layer of luxurious authenticity. This is a work of art that deserves to be seen, whether in the Vatican or on your mantelpiece.

I wanted this because my parents always had one when I was growing up. This one is absolutely astonishing and looks so much the same. Hers was from Italy and very similar quality. Very heavy and very sturdy build and awe inspiring.
