In the 17th century it is said that some Benedettini monks hid 31 grains of rice in a cane and brought them from China to Italy. They stopped at the Lucedio Abbey in the Grange Vercellesi area, in the North of our country, and they began to grow rice. The Grange Vercellesi is where rice crops started to develop and today it is renown world wide for its top quality rice production. So, of course this region is where we went for the best rice.
Gli Aironi is located in the middle of the agricultural land surrounding the town of Vercelli, known as the “Grange”. The experience of five generations in rice cultivation has paid off as the the Perinotti family makes some of the best rice and grain products in the world. Their technique of handcrafted stone mill rice husking guarantees a light shelling of the grain, which maintains the nutrients present in the outer part – it is these that are responsible for the taste and consistency of cooked rice. Processing in individual lots and the use of vacuum packaging ensures that stored batches remain fresh and homogeneous. Finally, the product is rigorously selected according to the color, purity and size of the grains.
Carnaroli, with its well-shelled grains and great consistency, is ideal for risottos and salads. The germ (Gemma) is a key part of the rice grain. It represents its vital essence and contains vitamins and nutrients that are good for human health. The gliAironi rice is the only one on the market which retains the germ during its processing stage.
