After 82 years, nobody expected a sequel
Relive Hollywood's Golden Age with this stunning retro timepiece
Hollywood got it right in 1938. Back then, screen idols created the gold standard for movie star style. Just hearing their names conjures an image of sophisticated cool: Cagney, Garbo and Leigh; Gable, Flynn and Tracy. We longed for that bygone era of elegance so much that we decided to build a time machine: the 1938 Gable Watch.
The clean lines and elegant simplicity of the Gable is a respectful nod to the timepieces of 1930’s. A rose gold-finished tonneau case features a classically complicated ivory dial with a date window and three subdials. And, with a crocodile-embossed, genuine leather strap in go-with-everything chestnut brown, this is the accessory staple you’re looking for.
While such a rare design definitely appeals to fine watch collectors, this is a watch that was made to be worn. We’ve given you a more accurate update of the stylish original with a crystal mechanism that oscillates at 32,768 times per second, ensuring accuracy within 0.2 seconds per day.
But the real headliner here is the price. This is the caliber of watch that raises paddles at auction and creates a buzz at estate sales. And, don’t get me started on the upcharge you’ll find at high end retailers. Making you feel like a star without breaking the bank is no act around here. So, in tune with vintage 1930s style of this timepiece, we gave it a 1938 price.
