Burning love
Born of fire, Murano smolders in rich, ruby red
MURANO
With ovens reaching in excess of 2,700ºF, Murano artisans create glassworks of unusual shapes and spectacular colors
Is it just us or is it getting hot in here? As in 2,700º Fahrenheit hot! Add another 6,300º and it would be the temperature of the sun’s surface. Pretty hot if you ask us.
And it’s the temperature this beautiful ruby-red jewelry was born from. We think it’s safe to say it’s pretty perfect for celebrating the deep flame of romance.
The art form of Murano dates back to 1291, when, by decree of the Serenissima Republic, all the furnaces of Venice were moved to the island of Murano. It was there, in isolation, that the artisans perfected their craft, giving the world an art form that is now registered and protected by UNESCO’s World Heritage List. This centuries-old glass artistry shares the honor with places like the Pyramids of Egypt, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and the Baroque cathedrals of Latin America.
