Things can get pretty busy at the North Pole. In fact, you could say the hustle and bustle in the old workshop is downright explosive. The jolly old elf could use a little help. And, he’s found it from something that’s certainly not of elfish proportions. Let us explain... On May 18th, 1980, one cataclysmic moment shook the world. Mount St. Helens in Pacific Northwest awoke from her hundred-year slumber and erupted, sending a column of ash and smoke 80,000 feet into the atmosphere, and shaving almost 2,000 feet off her one and half mile height.
Mount St. Helens caused quite the stir. But it was a surprising find discovered in the aftermath of the eruption that had locals talking long after the volcanic dust settled. Workers using a gas torch while doing salvage work discovered that the heat of the torch was melting the volcanic ash into a lustrous substance. Named “Helenite” after the mountain from which it was born, its striking appearance and amazing story captured the attention of jewelers worldwide. It was a scramble to secure the magical ash from Mount St. Helens and perfect the heating process to achieve brilliant green and red stones that rival emeralds and rubies in terms of color, refractive index and durability.
The world has never seen anything like Helenite. Neither had Santa. Until now. The Helenite Holiday Collection––our answer to helping fulfill Santa’s mile long wish list–– can help fulfill yours too. Green helenite pears and red helenite rounds erupt with vibrant color and fire that would make even the finest emeralds and Rudolph’s red nose jealous. This uniquely American stone that helped Santa keep his cool, is just the gift for helping you heat up the holidays.
