50 shades of pink
Rare pink sapphire in its many exquisite shades
Most people think of blue when sapphires are mentioned. But sapphires actually come in a wide range of colors, including green, yellow, and orange. But pink sapphires are the rarest sapphire color and are found in various hues, from pale shell pink to vivid bubble gum pink. The depth of the shade is determined by the amount of the mineral corundum in the gem. Darker pink hues contain more of the mineral.
We headed to where pink sapphires like to form–– Madagascar and Sri Lanka –– and gathered together a plethora of pink sapphires in its many, many shades of pink. We found ballet slipper pink. Salt water taffy pink. Flamingo pink. Pretty much every pink there is. Then we took almost one and a half carats of these sparkling gems and formed a petal of rosy perfection.
Set in warm 14K rose gold, this ring has a depth of color you simply can’t find from uniformly colored gems. The way all the shades of pink play together is absolutely exquisite. Perfect for the lady who loves pink, rare gems, flowers, or all three.
