In 1984 an American science fiction romance film tells the story of a humanoid alien who has come to Earth in response to the invitation found on the gold phonograph record installed on the Voyager 2 space probe. His people eventually collect him from the Diablo Canyon Crater in Arizona, but not before he’s fallen in love with the beautiful Jenny. 

Coincidentally — or maybe not? — the unique gemstone Moissanite was first discovered in the Diablo Canyon Crater by French chemist, Henri Moissan in a 50,000 year-old meteorite.
