The fantastic four

On a recent visit to Florence, I asked Claudia, the designer behind many of our gorgeous Italian handbags, what makes a good handbag. She paused for a moment, looked up from the leather samples spread out on the table in front of her and said “four things— proportion, line, material, finish.”

Seems pretty simple right? While each of these elements may be easy to perfect individually, it’s achieving just the right balance between them that’s a sign of a true quality handbag. No one has mastered this skill better than the Italians. Generations of leather craftsmanship have left them well-equipped to combine just the right leathers and continually push the envelope when it comes to design.
