How to make a royal impression
From the British Crown Jewels to Cleopatra's love potion, amethyst has a royal lineage
The rich purple color of amethyst has been known for centuries as the color of royalty. Throughout history many people of royal caliber have worn this opulent gemstone. The British Crown Jewels consist of amethyst. It is also said to have been the favorite gemstone of Russian empress, Catherine the Great who sent thousands of miners into the Urals to look for it. In fact, according to legend, Cleopatra had an amethyst ring which was believed to capture the hearts Julius Caesar and Marc Anthony. It worked. Not only did she spellbound them, it didn’t take long for the women of Egypt to seek out amethyst of their own in which to attract or keep love.

I had wanted a large Amethyst ring for a long time saw this one in the Stauer Catalog and asked my husband to get it for me. It became a second slightly late Mother''s Day gift. The Amethyst is a beautiful shade of purple and the Trillion cut is unique and pretty. The stone is large!!!! I put it on right away!!! Two things I wish though that it was set in just Sterling because I know the rose gold will wear off. but you don''t see much of it and that the faux diamonds that surround the stone were a little bigger. This is my 3rd piece of Stauer jewelry they have some beautiful pieces!!!!
