For generations, the women of Phu Nghia village in Hanoi, Vietnam have woven bamboo and rattan by hand into beautiful objects treasured around the world. But as these materials became scarcer and more costly, their centuries-old craft was in danger of fading.
Then these remarkable artisans found a new material for an old tradition: recycled paper.
Using the art of quilling, slender strips of paper are rolled, curled and shaped by hand into a stately nutcracker, decorated Christmas tree and brilliant red cardinal. This set includes one of each design. The material has changed, but the hands — and the skills passed from one generation to the next — have not.
Each card takes approximately 90 minutes to create. In every careful curl is the patience of a practiced hand and the story of a village finding a new way to keep its traditions alive.
This is more than paper. It is another person’s time, touch and care — proof that in a fast-moving world, something slow, human and handmade still matters.
Each card is blank inside for your own personal message and includes an envelope. More than holiday greetings, these are time, tradition and craftsmanship made visible.
