Mystery of Lincolns watch solved!
Did a watch repairman really engrave a secret message on Abraham Lincoln’s watch the day the Civil War began? Abraham Lincoln’s watch has been rumored to carry a secret message, allegedly written by Jonathan Dillon. On NBC’s Today Show, working with magnifying glasses and precise instruments, master watchmaker George Thomas finally opened the back to reveal the underside of the watch movement.
The inscription read, “Jonathan Dillon April 13-1861 Fort Sumpter [sic] was attacked by the rebels on the above date J Dillon April 13-1861 Washington thank God we have a government Jonth Dillon.”
The George Chatterton™ Watch Company released the Lincoln Pocket Watch to bring history’s mystery to life. They have painstakingly recreated the design of the dial and position of the small second hand, and they have even replicated the mysterious engraving on the back of the movement. The design of the hands is especially rare. The movement employs vintage-styled manual winding with 20 jewels and the case is gold-finished and matches the color of the original exactly.

Christmas Shopping Done!
I bought one as a christmas gift after I received it I liked it so much that I went back and bought two more as gifts. A very impressive watch looks much more expensive then it is! After Christmas I''ll get one for myself! I''m sure the guys on my list will be as happy with it as I am. With the open back I''m sure I can have it personalized by having it professionally engraved.

MAYBE TOO PERFECT A GIFT
I gave the watch to my nephew for his birthday. He is a history buff and was thrilled at having a detailed replica of Lincoln''s watch. The chain is an elegant touch. He says his "antique" watch has "class" and carries it only for special occassions when he wants to impress. It will be hard to top the watch when I look for his graduation gift this year.

Lincoln PW- Nice
I collect antique PW and decided to add this "new" to my collection. Most all my watches are from early 1800''s to early 1900''s nothing loder than 1910. It''s a nice piece for a modern watch. 20 jewels is a large amount which is nice for smooth operation. Wish it was just a little larger and inside dust cover was easier to remove to adjust timing. Overall a nice watch that I am using as my new daily time piece.

Great Little Timepiece
I bought one of these Watches a few months back to replace my old Russian watch, When I saw the size of it I wasn't sure. But now after using it as my daily watch for 4 months I love it. It's a great little watch and does the job well. It does run a bit fast now and then but I can't complain on the Quality of the watch. I would recommend this to any one looking for a good solid pocket watch.

Lincoln Pocket Watch
Impressive watch. First rate. You must wind it every day.
I still do not know how to open the rear cover. No instructions came with it. None available on this website.
Great gift to myself after 30 years of work.

Keeps Perfect Time
I received my watch yesterday. It kept perfect time over the last 24 hours. This watch is constructed very nicely. The gold finish is stunning. I can''t find anything to complain about. I like the smaller size. It fits very nicely in my pocket and the safety chain attaches firmly to my pocket. I always wanted to have a pocket watch.
