Merino is one of the finest grades of wool. While incredibly durable, it doesn’t have the itchy feel of some wools. And while Merino wool is excellent at keeping body heat, you won’t experience overheating. Menswear expert Tom Kalendarian, executive vice president at Barneys New York says “its wearability is fantastic.”
There is meaning in the very patterns. Take for example the traditional Fisherman Knit Sweater. According to legend, the stitch patterns were more than decorative: the honeycomb represented the hardworking bee, the cable was a prayer for safety, the diamond a wish for success and wealth and the basket stitch represented hope for a plentiful catch.
