Description

Amazing New Hybrid Runs Without Gas

The new face of time? Stauer's Compendium Hybrid fuses form and functionality! Read on....

Innovation is the path to the future. Stauer takes that seriously. That's why we developed the Compendium Hybrid, a stunningly-designed hybrid chronograph with over one dozen analog and digital functions that is more versatile than any watch that we have ever engineered.

New technology usually starts out at astronomical prices and then comes down years later. We skipped that step to allow everyone the chance to experience this watch's brilliant fusion of technology and style.

Welcome a new Digital Revolution. With the release of the dynamic new Compendium, those boxy, plastic wrist calculators of the past have been replaced by this luxurious LCD chronograph that is sophisticated enough for a formal evening out, but rugged and tough enough to feel at home in a cockpit, camping expedition or covert mission.

The watch's extraordinary dial seamlessly blends an analog watch face with a stylish digital display. Three super-bright luminous hands keep time along the inner dial, while a trio of circular LCD windows track the hour, minutes and seconds. An eye-catching digital semi-circle animates in time with the second hand and shows the day of the week. The watch also features a rotating bezel, stopwatch and alarm functions and blue, electro-luminescence backlight. The Compendium Hybrid secures with a rugged stainless steel band and is water-resistant to 3 ATMs.

Impressive

I gave this watch to my Son for Christmas. He normally does not wear a watch, but upon receiving this he was very excited. The watch looks very expensive and I snapped it up from Stauer for the $49 offer. Looks like it should cost a minimum of $200. I like it so well that I am thinking of ordering one for myself. I saw little on the web site about the functions, it has lots of buttons so I suspect it does more than the day date and stop watch functions, but will have to see what my Son says when he uses it. Thanks Stauer!

BIG watch for the price!

I just gave this watch to my dad for Christmas- he loved it and was stunned by all the features! Just a heads-up- IT IS BIG! The face is bigger than you may expect and my dad has thick wrists- but it still looked big on his wrist- overall, amazing price for the $49.00 and it was one of four that I bought this holiday from Stauer- a great company!

Great but......

The watch is great but the instructions that come with it are lacking. Instructions refer to "FLAGS" but do not tell (or illustrate) what a flag is. I think the person who composed the instructions was already aware of the use of the functions and did not properly lay a foundation for the NEW USER. I have alot of stuff flashing on the timepiece and for the life of me I can not figure out if this is normal. Makes no mention of battery or winding needs.

Impressed

My wife decided this watch would look good on me, thinking it was fairly small. This is a massive watch, the buttons are actually usable and the numbers are readable. Since I am over 60, all these are real plus items. AI usually work nights so the dark face with the light hands usually eliminate the need for backlighting. Really nice watch!

AWESOME Watch

Received this watch two weeks ago and am very pleased with my purchase. It is an awesome time piece. I like big watches, and this baby is BIG!I''d like to see it have another band such as a silicon rubber as I am not a fan of metal watch bands, but hey for $49 bucks can''t complain!

Great watch

Got my watch a couple weeks ago now... I love it. It''s a bit bigger than expected, but that just makes it an eye-catcher. The only complaint I have is that the pins that connect the band to the watch are a bit weak for the watch''s size. I''ve bumped my arm a couple times and the pins are bent already, and the watch fell off my wrist. Otherwise, I love it.

Cool Watch, A bit Big. unable to remove links

I saw this watch in my recent copy of American Rifleman. Read the description and decided to go for it. Really like it. Kinda difficult to set but once you do it the first time, it''s easier. The thing I don''t like about it is that the instructions state that you can adjust the band by removing links. I may be missing something but I cannot remove a single link. Instructions state that you need a sharp pointed tool to pop the rods out of the links. That would be fine and dandy but the watch I received doesn''t have indentations on the side of the watch band. Anyone else have this problem? If so, email me and let me know how you fixed it.. mattas5@yahoo.com.

Excellent with 1 caveat

Excellent watch, the details on how to activate the 24hr mode is not explained. In addition, the Stem comes all the way if setting to position 1. . Luckily, it can be put back in with no real problem or damage. That is why I did give it a five. Other than that,I really like the watch.

looks good from afar!

This is a great looking watch! I love the huge face and the nice big red second hand that makes it easy to quickly time something without using your hands. I also like the unidirectional bezel...finally a dial that actually turns! But this watch does have a couple cons that are bearable. First, the digital and analog times get out of synchronization within a couple hours. Solution is to re-set the digital time to match the analog time daily (easy fix). I bought 2 of these watches and found that both watches get out of sync. Second is that the bezel is flush with the crystal rather than sitting on top of the crystal (recessing it) and helping to protect the face from scratches. My arms swing into things when I walk and watches get unintentionally marked up this way. Bottom line is that Stauer can still perfect this time piece but I would buy another!

STUPENDOUS!

This sucker is Huge! Very nicely made hunk of chronology. Like someone else observed, the instructions leave a bit to the imagination. How do you replace the battery? What kind of battery? I know this watch will last more than 5 years if its a Cr2022 so at some point it''s gonna need replacing.Someone else mentioned the watch band. I''ve already put a Milspec band with cover on mine.Other than that I''m well pleased with my purchase! Thanks Stauer!

Idiosyncratic but Very Nice Watch

The Stauer Compendium watch is not a perfect watch but rather a very pleasant and accurate watch. The analog watch hands keep Fort Collins time rather well but the digital time readouts run about five to six seconds fast per day. It is easy to reset the digital time every week or two if you have an atomic clock at the ready.I like the watch because you can set Universal Time on the digital readout and local time on the analog watch hands. The second hand is nice when timing pulses or other cyclic events. The direction wheel gives me a heads up on the location of celestial objects that I use my 20 inch mirror diameter alt/az newtonian telescope to observe. The alarm is quite loud and my dogs go nuts when it goes off, thus ensuring that I get up at two or three in the morning. In short, if you like spending twenty thousand dollars on a big telescope or one hundred thousand dollars on a Mercedes Benz but you want a damned good inexpensive watch then buy this very accurate but imperfect monster watch.Even simpler, the watch talks to you when you first take it out of the ornate box. VERY NICE! A PIECE OF ART.

All I can say is, I was very surprised when I opened the box expecting a typical sports watch for under $50. This is a fantastic time piece. It is rugged and it looks like it weighs pounds, but is actually light. I love it. It is hard to take it off. This is like having art on your wrist. Good job Stauer.

Great But...

I received my watch and I liked it. Did not have much problem programing it and adjusting the band. My But has to do with the finishing of the band, you could invest another fifteen bucks and put a better band, the band has too sharp edges and makes it a little bit uncomfortable. The indigo light is not very effective (bright enough) and the number dots and hands do not retain light charge to last all night. The details is what makes a watch great I would like to see the watch improved. Other than that I declare satisfaction with my purchase.

compendium hybrid

Pros, looks nice.Cons, the second hand and the seconds counter do not stay in sync. The counter runs about five seconds fast per day. This would not bother me if I could switch the digital display to the date rather than seeing the minutes and seconds. It seems you can not do that with this watch. Also tends to reset the digiital display without my trying to do it. Had to reset it three times in two weeks.Directions suck.Worth the 49 dollars, I guess but don''t spend any more on it.

Big!

This is a really nice watch - impressive appearance and price. It is larger/thicker than I expected, hopefully will get used to it.It has a lot of functions, I like the "24 hour" time display in the digital window.I cannot keep the analog and the digital times to stay sycronized - the digital seems to run fast(?).

Great watch, Bad Instructions

Love the watch, hate the instructions. I am like the guy earlier that says he stuff flashing all over and the booklet says something about "Flags". I haven''t a clue as to what they mean because they don''t tell you about these "Flags" anywhere. Still, a great price for a decent watch. I have my eye on another Stauer watch that I may order tonight. You can never have too many watches!!!!

recomend to everyone

i am a 16 year old guy in hs and im going in to the af. just saying that i am a guy means that i need a durable watch and i have found it. i have had it for a few feeks now and absolutly love it. the alarm and time are realy easy to set and it looks very expensive. but the only reason i gave it a 4 was because the analoge time and the digital time do not stay together and it would be realy nice if the digital time read out would be determined by the time that you set the analoge time at. and the other reason that i gave it a 4 was because it is massive and the metal band pulls the hairs on your arm from time to time and im going to have to have it re sized to fit right. but i would still sugest this watch to everyone i know.

Pleased overall

I have agree with "great but" the instructions are lacking detail regarding different functions. For example most watchs give the option of displaying the date full time vs. digital time however in order to get the date one needs to actually push a button. Very inconvenient.Other detailed info is lacking regarding initially setting the up the watch. I can` see how someone who is not familar with digital settings might get confused. Also a better description with diagrams of adjusting the band is necessary.

inaccurate

Although it''s a very nice watch, it really irritates me that the digital watch is faster than the analog watch. Initially, I synchronized them, the next day, the digital time was already 2 seconds ahead of the analog second hand. Other than that, it is a great buy!

Not a bad watch, but

Great price. However the instructions leave a lot to be desired. So how is this powered? The back of the watch says, "Japan Movement" which hints at batteries, but there''s nothing on replacing them.Yeah it has a BIG watch face and does everything that the description indicates, but "just" everything...the locking clasp is a Plus!Hope I become proficient in using this.

Stylish & Sporty

I have been shopping for a dive styled type watch for months. There are several at the pricey mall stores but way beyond my means. When I saw this hybrid watch advertised in a national magazine I could not believe what I found. It is as stylish and sporty as the over priced ones at the mall but so much more affordable. It has all the functions needed plus it looks great. I really like it. My boys are jealous of my Father''s Day gift. Thanks to Stauer.

wonderful gift

I was wearing a rubber tube watch that I bought for 20 dollars, my wife said that was not the kind of watch a man of 45 years should be wearing! My wife bought me this watch for my birthday and I love it! I like all the functions it has and it may be big to some, but when you are 6''7 and 250 pounds the watch looks like it is made for your wrist! I would recommend this watch to any man who wants a great watch at a great price. I send thanks to my wife and to Stauer for such a great watch.

Very Nice Watch - A little too large for my taste

This is a great watch, it is an impressive piece straight out of the box. It has a heavy feel (which i like) and has a nice handsome / masculine look. It is a big watch. It looks a bit too big on my wrist and I consider myslef to be of a medium body frame. If you are a bigger guy this would not be a consideration for you. I felt that the digital displays could have had a bit more presence. These are just small details though, and compared to the overall quality and value of the watch I would say it is well worth the money and you will most likely not be disappointed.

Nice Watch, Very Cheap Watch Band

I have had the watch for a few weeks now and so far so good. Its big and it looks good on my wrist. So far i only have two complaints, the watch band is very cheap and its starting to rust. For a few dollars more they could have put a better band on it. The second complaint is the instructions for setting it up, not very clear and hard to understand.I give it 3 stars

The Good and the Bad

Good looking watch with nice features. BUT....mine gains a number of seconds a day, so that unless I reset it every day (not hard but inconvenient), by the end of a week it is way ahead. If it kept more accurate time, this would be a great value.

Like The Elegant Looks but....

Two people have complimented me on how elegant this watch looks. I totally agree after my initial shock of how big it was. I find myself turning my rest to see this beauty several times a day.But when it comes to accurate digital time , it''s awful. Analog is very, very, very accurate.

Overall it''s Great!

Read the reviews about it being large. it is, but not hat overwhleming. I like it on my average size wrist. I''m disappointed that the digital time and analog time are not synchronized, at least to the second. You could set a different time zone on digital but the seconds should match the sweep hand. Not a big deal, but you know. Also the instructions don''t tell how to disable the alarm. Had to find a 12 year old to figure it out for me. Otherwise, love it!! it IS easy to see with older eyes and the backlight works well when standing anchor watch on the Adventuress.

lack of instructions

I like the watch and will wear it. However, if I was not a watch freak I would be confused. There were not any thorough instructions in the box I received from Stauer. It does not provide adequate instructions about how to get from 24 hour digital to 12; and there was no information about battery replacement. The hands are not nearly as luminous as claimed. The brightness is not in the same league with the Timex Expedition. An OK value at $50.00 but a long way from being fairly priced at $395.00

Ok watch

I''ve owned the Stauer Hybrid watch for about 4 months. It''s priced about $10-$20 high for what you get. The face is REALLY big. Face and bezel are about 1 7/8" in diameter. The watch looks nice, has a beautiful Al, silver finish. Functionality is good, date/time are easy to set. Stop watch, alarm setting, back light are fine. Here are the things that are not so good. The analog watch hands and digital watch display are not synchronized (effectively 2 separate watches). They drift apart at rate of about 5 min/month. The minute position is placed at the far right side of the watch (Hr, Sec, Min). This was annoying at first, but I''ve finally gotten used to it. This summer I''ve frequently worn the watch with a motorcycle jacket and just the normal wear of this garment has begun to rub the silver finish off the ends of the watch (where the band connects). For $49 plus shipping, this watch is OK. It looks fairly elegant/professional, keeps time, has an alarm, stop watch, light, and hasn''t broken yet. If you can get over the watch''s large face size, unsynchronized time between analog/digital, and are not concerned about the finish wearing off from contact points of your clothing, than this watch is not a terrible buy. In hindsight, a better hybrid would correct the unsynchronized time and blend the digital/analog in such a way that they don''t mask each other. The hour, minute, and second hand are always covering some part of the digital display which defeats the functionality of the digital. Blending them together so they don''t intefere with each other would make for a better watch.

Nice - how can you go wrong?

I got my watch today - only 3 days after ordering it! It is very nice and as others stated it is bigger than I expected but it's OK - it doesn't feel big on. So far so good - I found the instructions good although re-sizing the band was a bit of a challenge with those clips. Getting them out was OK but getting them back in took some patience. Overall a nice watch that you can''t go wrong for 50 bucks!

NICE BUT BIG!

I purchased two of these watches, one for myself and one for my father. The watch face is attractive and rugged, and the features are fun and useful (especially like the alarm for traveling). The face is very large and bulky, but that seems to be the style for this type of watch. My only concern is the band, which comes off a bit cheap. The metal edges are very sharp and the single clasp is more simple than the double clasps I have had in the past.

One of my favorites

This is my third Stauer watch, and it is a beauty. It is a big watch, but it is an eye catcher when I where it. Nothing but compliments. And the price for a quality watch as this is a bargain. Love the watch.

Not pleased with LCD

Received this watch several weeks ago. I didn''t realize that the date only shows when you push a button, OK not that big of a deal. The LCD version of the time gains time....almost 3 minutes a month! Had I known this I would not have purchased this watch. Now I can say that I won''t be buying a Hybrid Watch in the future. Just too much trouble to be setting two watches so often.

Compendium Hybrid Watch

Saw this watch on your site, thought it would be a good work watch, so I ordered it. When it came, I was surprised at how big it was, much bigger than I usually wear. I was originally going to return it, but after wearing it for two months, I find it to be a great watch. The only complaint that I have, other than what I have already mentioned is the instructions need some work. I had to go on-line to figure out how to work some of watches functions. Great watch.

perfect for work and dress.

As you can see, I spent some time in a uniform. I had a Citizen Navigator that went bad. I saw this watch in a VFW magazine and thought it might fit my needs as a work/dress watch, and it has. When I first got it, I thought it was too big, but after having worn it for the last three months, it is perfect. Thanks.

Expensive looks

Received the watch and yes the face is huge. Directions were not really clear on how to adjust the band size. So I took it to a watch shop and handed it to the shop keeper and they were like "WOW" is this watch expensive. I almost laughed in their face as I only dropped $49 bucks. So far so good, needs better explanations to all of the watch functions.

Moisture Solution/Back Cover Removal

Somehow, I got moisture inside the watch and it didn''t dry out on it''s own. I was able to remove the back cover and blow dry the watch. The crystal is now "crystal" clear. We will see if the moisture comes back as the watch is exposed to temperature changes. To remove the back was simple once I figured it out. There is a slightly raised edge on the upper right quadrant of the back cover. It is literally on the edge where the cover meets the watch body. This "raised" section is almost invisible but you can feel it with your fingertip. I simply placed the edge of a butter knife in the indention and twisted. The cover popped off and I was then able to blow dry the watch removing the moisture. The cover was also easy to pop back into place.

Superb Craftmanship

I needed a nice watch that I could wear when my wife and I went out, or a special event that I needed to get dressed up for. When I saw Stauer''s ad in one of my magazines I knew this was the watch for me. Well I ordered it and it arrived in less than a week.....WOW! Yes, it is a big watch, but when I took it out of its box and put it on my wrist I thought "now this is a watch!I took it in and had 2 links removed so it would fit better, I took it over to a friend who knows fine watches, my friend actually thought it was a $250-$350 watch, he thought I was kidding when I told him what I paid for it. This is a superbly crafted watch, its been 6 months now since I received this watch, and I now wear it daily, thanks Stauer!

Great Watch Great Price

I have had the watch for a week now and while it has lost about 3 seconds I find that totally acceptable. I had no trouble setting the watch and although some may initially find it large, it doesn''t look out of place on my small wrist or feel heavy. I would recommend it to my friends. Saying you can''t go wrong for the price is being unkind as this doesn''t in any way look like or perform like a $50 watch.

Plusses and Minuses

I''ll do the minuses first... 1)The digital time is displayed in a rather strange way - hours, seconds, minutes. 2)All the digital data, at some times of the day, is obscured by the hands. But this should not be a surprise, because just by looking at the picture, you can see that this is going to happen. 3) The hands and digital time are not in sync. On my watch, the digital time is losing 1 second per day. 4) As a previous writer mentioned, the instructions are really bad.The pluses: 1)The hands keep REALLY good time - not a second gained or lost in 10 days. 2) It is very easy to reset the digital time to the hands time. 3)The watch LOOKS and is impressive. It''s not a wimpy watch. I LIKE IT!

Best christmas present ever

My parents had bought me a watch that I wasn''t very happy with. I told my parents that I wanted a heavy duty dive watch and showed them a picture of what I had in mind. Today Jan 5 my mother handed it to me and upon opening it I was stunned at how awesome it looked. Its exactly what I want and has A LOT of functionality. I don''t foresee myself ever wearing another watch again. I''m very happy with this product.

Amazing Timepiece!

This is my second Stauer wristwatch; and I am just as pleased with this one, as I was and still am with my 1930 "Dashtronic" automatic. The 1930 is a very beautiful and very suprisingly rubust and strong watch and has held up very well for what I put it through. I cant belive how nice this watch is for the price!! I was able to set it with ease. This watch looks and feels like a watch 4 times as much, for this price, you would be very hard pressed to find anything that comes close to this amazing quality and design...anywhere! Thanks Stauer...I''ll be ordering my next watch from you very soon!

Outstanding value!

I received this watch as a birthday gift and just love the style and function. I am somewhat confused by a range (scale?) of numbers surrounding the hour indicator - at first I thought it a tachymeter scale, but the numbers run in the wrong direction. Nothing is mentioned in the instructions or the advertising literature. Very impressed by the size & blend of analog/digital functions.

This has been a very good everyday watch. Everyone notices it and likes it...looks great. Nice light-up digital display for night-time, and love the 24-hour mode. Excellent customer service

At the end of August 2010 I made the purchase of my Compendium Hybrid. It arrived in just under a week. I got it out of the box and was thrilled with it from the start. Great weight, hefty band, easily adjustable. All in all I thought this was so much nicer than the department store fare of watches, and I planned to purchase the Midnight Flyboy to wear as a dress watch. I noticed some flaws in the timekeeping right away. About every 4 hours the digital second readout would be anywhere from 4-8 seconds ahead of the analog readout. The analog readout was spot on with the atomic clock, so I learned to resynch the digital readout whenever I put the watch on. The customer service people at Stauer told me then that the digital and the analog timekeeping was operated by two separate devices and there was no way to guarantee keeping them in synch, but they extended an offer to replace the watch with a new one if I so desired. I mulled this over for some days, and decided that it was probably fruitless to expect another watch to operate any more accurately. So I determined to keep my watch and live with this minor imperfection. Then, in February, the digital display quit working. I was really upset that I had a real problem on my hands, and the display came back on its own. I contacted Stauer and mentioned the issue to them and the person in customer service said, "We extended an offer to replace the watch back in September. I can honor that. If you''ll send your watch back, I''ll see that you get a brand new watch."My new watch arrived two weeks ago. The digital time keeping is only off 1-2 seconds every 24 hours, and the band fits better and has a nicer heft than the first one!Hats off to Stauer. This is one top notch company!

Nice time piece, ok band

The watch is a nice large timepiece and has a nice display and is bright at night with the illuminated dial. It keeps time well and the instructions were clear and it was easy to setup. My only problem is the band is very light and feels cheap. I have not had any problems with it, but compared to the weight of the watch the band is too light. We will see how long it lasts.Overall a good watch for $50. Look like more and is big.. I like it.

Outstanding Purchase!

Great watch! It was all I expected, and more. The huge dial makes it senior-user-friendly, and its weight enables me to exercise my bicep whenever I wear it. Quality is wonderful, and it has only lost one second, when matched with my atomic clock, in the three weeks I have had it. One of the better purchases I have ever made!

Reliable every day watch

Purchased this watch for a reliable work watch. Easy to wear and adaptable for my job. Looks and runs well. with lots of extras in a lower priced watch. Only negative point for me is the watch band. It is a little on the stiff side. and does not wear as well as my other Stauer watches.

A wonderful watch EXCEPT -

I bought two models of this watch 3 of the leather banded with a panel display and 2 of the metal banded type. Kept 1 of the leather for myself and gave 2 of them to physicians that saw my wife through the Big C - both are mutimillionaires and BOTH flipped over the watch. They both sail competitively and this watch did EVERTHING for them. I rate the leather banded a 5 but the metal a 3 because of the way the band is attached to the watch body. I totally agree w/ the previous comment about that deficiency. I returned the ungiven watch to Stauer and am awaiting a reply or substitution. A leather band would be appreciated. A very GREAT VALUE but buy the leather type.

Heavy Watch

I got this watch for Christmas after my wife saw me looking at an ad and she cut it out to get it for me. I like the watch, but don''t understand the inside tachymeter. It is opposite of anything I''ve seen on the internet so don''t know how to use it. Other than that the instructions were clear on how to operate the buttons. But, I''ve yet to hear the alarm flag or no flag. The alumination at night is bright. Over all I like this watch but won''t give it top rating because of the lacking of instructions about all the features and alarm.

Hefty Value in a Man''s Man Watch

This watch is living large. When I put this time piece on I am ready to build a dam or rebuild an engine. I like large watches and I love quality and a great value. This is one of the least expensive Stauer watches made, however, it is indeed a heavy duty watch. I had fun setting up the digital functions and had a couple of links taken out of the band to achieve the perfect fit. Fine job Stauer and keep it up.

Compendium Hybrid a STEAL for the price

I own more than a dozen watches now, and I''m a stickler for accuracy and style. I saw this Stauer in a magazine I was browsing for the ridiculous price they had tagged on it and I would have passed it by (my tastes had grown beyond the $100 dollar watch rack by then) if it was not for its crisp, meticulous styling and bold stainless steel armor. The contrast of analog laid against digital was the next thing to capture my interest, and soon I found myself reading the manufacturers description of the timepiece. I had only spent a scant few minutes on the ad when I decided I needed to research the Stauer company and find out exactly how much precision, technology, care and craftsmanship had been put into this "variety store" priced gem I''d found. (Read it for yourself; I was impressed enough to buy it)I''ve owned my Compendium Hybrid for over a year now, it''s one of my "every day" watches, and for the price of it I am not exactly careful or kind to it. I wear it to work, to volleyball, hiking (sometimes) and light swimming. It still works as flawlessly as the day I got it in the mail. Yes, it''s large, but that only adds to its majestic appeal! The only thing I don''t like about this watch is that in the back of my mind, I know how little I actually paid for it.Stauer... Who knew?

A Real Man''s Watch

Big is an understatement. The photos just don''t convey the actual size of this fine timepiece. Once it arrives and you open the box,the first thing out of your mouth is, "Whoa"... Good looking, so-so function.

Once i got the band adjusted to my wrist size, the watch was truly amazing. Though slightly large and heavy, the look and finish was stunning, making people go crazy about how i could afford something this fancy, while in real life, it was less than $100. In all, i only have two complaints...1) the clasp on the band seems really weak, and 2) the analog is slower than the digital, and both of them are a pain to set and adjust, especially if i need to do it more than once a month (which i predict i will because in the 1 and 1/2 weeks i have used it, i have already adjusted it twice to compensate for loss of time)

Good watch

The watch is very good, and meets or exceeds all advertising. The instructions included with it, however, leave a lot to be desired. For example: To adjust the band instructions are not applicable to the band on the watch. It says to remove pins, but there no pins to remove. It does not include anything about changing the battery, or even if there is a battery. For all the instructions say, it might run on pure magic. The watch itself, though, is a very good watch. I would rate it at at least four stars, maybe more; the reason for the three star rating is the instructions.

Received this 2 weeks ago. It looks stunning. The watch face was a little bigger than I expected but makes it all the easier to read. Comes in the usual eligant Stauer packaging. It was easy to adjust the band (slip out the flat in with a tack, pull with needle nose, rotate the band at the opening to flex out the back-up catch). Easy to set the time. Accurate.

band adjustment

I like the watch although it is a little heavy. I have had a lot of trouble figuring out how to adjust the band and have included a procedure that works - i just did it.Lay the band down flat with the arrows pointing away from you. You can either leave the watch attached to the band or remove it. The links with the arrows also have a hole on the other end of the link with a very small ball in the hole. Take a very small screwdriver, like a jewelers screwdriver and put the tip in the hole and pressing against the ball. Lower the end of the screwdriver that you are holding to about a 45 degree angle with the table and tap on the end with a hammer which will drive the pin out of the link. The pin has a very thin flat head that comes out of the link first. The link that you are removing has a piece of metal that has to be removed from the mating link through a slot. Assembly is just the reverse.

My What Big Watch You Have!

Actually my wife said, "My, that''s a big watch!" This is the largest diameter watch I''ve ever owned but damn it looks good. I have a muscular build so naturally I need a watch that fits. For years I''ve used velcro bands because they were the only thing that would fit my wrist. But on occasion its always nice to wear something a bit more flashy, upscale, and metal. This is definately a manly watch and an eye catcher at that. All I have to do is pull my sleeve back and people immediately look, and then the questions follow. Its a great piece to brag about and people are always shocked to hear what I paid for it, that''s if I tell them. Had it for a few weeks now and still seems to keep time accurately.

Instructions booklet

The watch is excellent and is certainly an eye catcher. The instruction booklet could be a little more informative about the changing of batteries and such...other than that the watch is one of the best I''ve ever had.

Great Watch

Unbelievable! Received this Model watch at Our Family Christmas reunion-during our White Elephant gift exchange. Brother purchased it. Style & Size caught his eye. Figured for under $50 bucks, how could u go wrong. I take this watch everywhere. Has not lost time nor skipped a bit since Christmas. Here it is a month later & love it more. As a matter of fact, just sold my James Bond Omega I was reluctant to wear everyday. Thank you Stauer for these fine looking Watches. Hey , for the price? Come on guys, they''re Great!! Looking to purchase 2 more.

Great watch ....BUT?

Great looking watch, large but good for me I have a very large arm. Found instructions lacking. As other people have said, but I can help a little. I had to change the battery and found that there are two batteries. One large CR2025 for the digital watch and a very small one for the analog SR626SW under the large battery. The small battery is what went dead. It is a little difficult to remove the small battery. Be very careful, I pushed a little to hard and the glass and ring came out. But it went back together.I love the watch, it feels good and looks better. Stauer you need better instructions!

A Lot of Watch!

I just received my Compendium, so any experience in the near future could bump this to 5 STARS... I like what I see so far.
I am not used to very large watches, and this one is quite BIG!
Overall look and feel though is high quality.
I am looking forward to learning how to fly this baby.

Good purchase! !

First one had the stem pull out while trying to set. Oh well stems happen! Quick turn around with replacement and happy with watch but will want to replace the band. Will buy more watches in future.

GREAT WATCH

I've had this watch for about 2-3 years, have had no problems with it at all, it's a little heavy, but I like the big numbers and the back light, the analog started to lose time every day, I couldn't find anything in the instructions about changing the battery. I call them to find out, he told me to take it to a jeweler and let them put the battery in. This is the best watch I've had for the price, I wear it everyday and it still looks new.

I love the Watch

I love this watch. It's nice to show off. The only comment I this watch is the silver strap the edges are a little sharp when you touch it. Otherwise, it's a very nice and beautiful watch.

Awsome

Bought this watch, and one other, and it has been everything I expected. Large dial, visually challenged, and easy to read dial. Love it. The other watch is the same, great value, works perfectly. Had some doubts, because of the price. How wrong I was. Pretty much works of art.

Good

This is a exceptional watch, goes with a lot of my other clothing options and is easy to read. Only minus is the fact that it ripped off when I got in a roll over car accident, but that's not necessarily Stauer's fault.

Analog time

If the watch Start's loosing time change batteries there are 2 one on top of the other.the needle time will slow down but the digital will be OK change both. The one underneath has white plastic cover on it and it is not very big the one on top is much larger .Not to hard to change out.I at first did not know there were 2 and just changed the top one but it did not fix the analog from slowing down .

Rogue

First of all, I want to thank @Stauer for this piece. When this piece of time came in, I was like wow!!! This watch gives you a rogue feeling when you put it on. It's solid and elegant at the same time. It keeps perfect time and has multiple functions... Just love

Big Beautiful Master Piece

Title says it all, everything about this watch is great. Everything. it's a stunner and definite attention getter the all over wrist fit is just right.
Would not wear it to work, the color and shine really stands out i would not want to even slightly scratch this watch it is for show and glamor and bragging rights. This is my 2nd purchase of this watch, no way i can let someone else have all the fun i have to own one also.

Nice Watch

I received this watch as a Christmas gift. I absolutely love it. It looks like a watch that cost 10 times more. I would not have believed the cost if I had not seen it with my own eyes. I love all the functions and it is one of the best looking watches I have seen in a long time. You will need the instructions to set it up. Follow them to the letter and you will be ok.don't try to synchronize the digital and the chronograph because they run on seperate systems. Each system has a separate battery. You WILL get compliments on this VERY nice watch.

Stauer Compendium Hybrid

Let me start with giving Stauer many compliments on an
excellent job! I had my doubts at first, because of the low price point, but after receiving my order I was impressed. The only gripe I have is be the band... Feels very cheap and the clasp is very thin. I ended replacing the band with another stainless steel 24mm all around band, that gave it a more robust look.

Great Watch!!

I bought one of these over 2.5 years ago & not only does it still look and function like new, it's still on the same battery that came with it. My watch has been subjected to trauma that would have killed most other watches- I work in security, fishing many times in the Gulf of Mexico, hunting & the shooting range, I do woodworking & other manual labor- I've even had this watch on scuba diving at over 100'!!.. Fantastic look/value & certainly quality at the most reasonable price you could possibly pay for a watch like this!!! 5+++++ stars!!!!.. I love it & will certainly buy another in case mine ever does break- heck, I may even just buy an extra now at this price!!

All The Settings

After reading the reviews on this watch I see many people are having a problem trying to figure out how the settings and the functions work so I looked it up and there is a complete set of instructions. Here is a link for everyone that needs to know how to work this watch. https://www.stauer.com/pdfs/manuals/19093.pdf
It's not that complicated. I also see that many people do not know which battery it takes. This also is on the website. it's Battery Type: SR626SW. Honestly, people (those of you having these problems) what is your problem? I intend to buy this later today and I already know more about it than you. And you know that just ain't right!
Another thing I'd like to know, because everyone keeps talking about how BIG the watch is, and that is how heavy the watch is? That info is not on the site. I have a lot of watches. I bought a $700 Seiko and I love it but it's so heavy I can only wear it for short periods of time before I have to take it off. I guess I'll see won't I? LUV2U

Not working

I got this watch about 1 year ago as a Christmas present from my wife. The digital components still work but the hands no longer work and it will not tell time. I thought it may have been a dead battery so I had it changed and that did not solve the issues. I also hate the directions. They are very incomplete and do not give you the information you need to use the watch. This is to bad as I liked the watch but now all I have now is a small boat anchor (it is a big watch) and a new battery.

Looks good, but didn't last

I love the way this watch looks. Unfortunately, the analog portion of the watch only worked for six months. I'm basing this rating simply on the fact that it doesn't work. I have, however, contacted customer service. If they are able to make it right, this could be changed. As I said, the watch is a looker, and as others have said, the face is large.

Nice watch, how to adjust the band

The Watch is nice, and I'm very pleased with it. I had difficulty figuring out how to adjust the band. Stauer Rep helped, and I eventually figured it out. The pins referenced in the instructions are not easily visible until you have removed one, then you'll be able to see where they are. They are on the links that have the arrows on the inside. You simply drive them out in the direction of the arrow. You need to remove two for each link, but then you reinsert one and the band is adjusted.

Great watch weak band

This is an excellent watch. Large but stylish. Keeps good time with nice features The only problem is that if the pins connecting the watch to the band ever break there is no replacement.
