Monumental blade
Damascus steel blade encased in a leather handle creates a blade of epic proportions
With over five million acres of forest and mountain lands, the Black Hills of South Dakota is home to a treasure trove of great American monuments–– from Mount Rushmore and the Cathedral Spires of Custer State Park to the wondrous caverns of Wind Cave. It is this vast oasis of American treasures that inspired the Black Hills Damsacus Blade.
A full tang 11" fixed blade of legendary Damascus steel is encased in a genuine leather-wrapped handle. The blade itself was forged by experts, using a method that folds the steel 256 times to create incredible density and strength, displaying the signature Damascus wavy texture. And, the leather on the handle is punctuated with golden and orange clay colored spacers evoking the banded sweeping hills of the Badlands. If you’re looking to make a monumental addition to your collection, look no further than this knife.

Much better than usual Pakistan blade
I received this knife as a Christmas 2020 present. I was immediately impressed by the appearance of both the knife and the scabbard. The Damascus blade exhibits a pronounced pattern with neither too fine nor too coarse grain. Fit finish and detail are quite nice. Of course this knife is really for show only. While Damascus blades are lovely to look at and keep a sharp edge longer than homogeneous steel they are very sensitive to corrosion. Additionally the stacked leather handle while beautiful to look at is severely impractical in the field where it might become blood covered during skinning and field dressing. Bloody leather is slippery too slippery to use without rubbing sand into the handle. The scabbard is a fine grade of leather without pattern or decoration. It is liable to last years of daily use if the owner elects to carry the knife. Otherwise it looks very good in a display
