Time flies
The Co-Pilot Watch recalls an era of aerial bravery that will never be forgotten.
Soaring over English skies in 1940, Royal Air Force pilots knew they were all that stood between the British people below and the impending Nazi invasion. Day after day, these brave men took their Hurricanes and Spitfires to the air, relying on nothing and no one but their instruments and each other, to engage the invaders, defend their countrymen, and change the course of history by handing Hitler his first defeat of World War II.
“Never, in the field of human conflict, was so much owed by so many to so few,” said Winston Churchill.
The Co-Pilot Men’s Watch is inspired by what was accomplished in the Battle of Britain. This classic aviation-style watch is not for the faint of heart. It features markings to calculate velocity, and a stylish sepia-toned dial carrying three classic complications: 24-hour at 3 o’clock and chronograph 60-minute at 9 o’clock. The Co-Pilot’s look is completed by a vintage-style distressed brown leather strap.
Those brave pilots flew solo, but their instruments were invaluable. It’s where they looked for confirmation, what they relied on when in trouble. We want our Co-Pilot Men’s Watch to fulfill that role for you, and that’s why we’ve priced it at a low-flying price for a high-flying timepiece.

Co-Pilot Watch Review
Very nice watch. This has a functioning, bi-directional slide rule bezel, and the basic calculations I've done with it seem pretty accurate for a watch of this price.
The second hand for the stopwatch is the long, centrally mounted second hand, which I prefer, not one of the subdials, like with some cheaper watches. And, when you reset the stopwatch, the minute and second hands quickly return to zero without needing to spin round and round.
When I tap on the crystal with my finger, it feels substantial, not cheap or "plasticky."
The specs say it has 40mm diameter case, but it "wears" bigger, maybe due to the fact that the metal bezel is so thin, so that the crystal takes up most of the viewing area of the watch, and everything inside the crystal is a similar color. To me, it looks a nice size on the wrist.
The only cons are that it doesn't have the date, and the stopwatch second hand is slightly "wobbly", but not enough to make it difficult to read the value it is pointi

one drawback
BEAUTIFUL WATCH. LARGE FACE FAIRLY EASY TO USE. ONE DRAWBACK IS THE 24 HR. HAND DOESN'T KEEP LAPS TIME IN HOURS. IT ONLY MATCHES THE PRESENT TIME. IE. 10:00 PM STANDERED TIME SHOWS UP AS 22;00 HOURS. OTHERWISE A VERY BEAUTIFUL TIME PIECE. WORTH THE MONEY.

Tachymeter Instructions Missing
This is a lovely watch, and I plan on purchasing one as soon as they come back in stock. I had asked customer service how the Tachymeter function worked (the outer movable bezel and adjacent rings), as there are no instructions for that. I have since researched this and have provided them with a document I drafted that outlines how to do time, distance and rate of speed calculations with the watch. I can't wait to lay hands on my own version of this watch, and add it to my extensive collection of other Stauer wristwatches.

Co-Pilot Chronograph
This watch was out of stock for almost a month; but it was worth the wait!
The dial just screams vintage chronograph! The attention to detail is amazing. The quartz movement is very accurate and easy to use...
One of my all time favorite Stauer timepieces! It wears a little large on my wrist, but it doesn't matter; I never get tired of looking at quality and value in a great watch!

Excellent style
Cool, hip, stylish and very retro. Very pleased with this watch.

Co-Pilot Watch Review
A very attractive and cool watch reminiscent of what the old aviators wore. However, the bezel DOES NOT MOVE allowing for the functions and calculations it looks like it's capable of. This let me down some, as I am a pilot and it would have been cool if it was capable of calculations. None the less, a cool watch.

The bezel does move!
Thomas, I'm not sure what is happening with your watch, but this bezel does rotate, and it is a functioning bi-directional slide rule. I do remember that it was pretty stiff when I first got the watch and it did require some effort to get it going, but after turning it a few times, it loosened up a bit.

The bezel does rotate
(This submission supercedes the reply that I just submitted -- please use this one instead)
Thomas, I'm not sure what is going on with your watch, but unless the manufacturer made a running change to the design of this watch, the bezel does rotate, and it is a bidirectional slide rule.

Nice
The co-pilot just arrived. Nice. Don't panic, there is no second sweep, after removing the plastic retainer on the crown and pressing it in, the watch is running. Reset the sweep timer if it does not return exactly to zero, the directions do explain how. Now, how to use the functions for which the watch was intended? If, like me, you are old enough to have used a slide-rule, this will be easy. If not, just take the time and it will become easy. The best explanation of this type of watch is the Breitling video at:

Great Watch
I already have a couple of good watches but my wife thought this would be interesting. I am impressed for the price. It looks vintage and so far has worked perfectly. The bezel DOES move but is very tight, which is fine by me. I need the instructions on how to use the "slide rule" but since my daughter-in-law has a masters in math, I bet she can tell me. Seems to be a high quality watch, again for the price point and I look forward to wearing it. I do wish the numbers were luminous which is the only reason it is not getting five stars from me.

Copilot Chronograph
PRO-A very handsome retro style timepiece, wears well and keeps good time.
CON- The hands do NOT glow in the dark so you can't tell time at nite (as in a dark cockpit?)
The band design is very weak at the pins, mine ripped out in 3 weeks. However the customer service lady is very personable and is shipping me out a new band ASAP.

Liked the watch, but crystal broke after only two weeks of use. Drove most of today and don't recall bumping watch on anything. Can't recommend watch.

Timeless piece
Just received the co-pilot watch today and it did not disappoint. So much attention to detail, a kind of detail that takes you back many years ago. It’s the kind of attention other watch companies should be taking notes on. This will be the third Stauer watch I own (hybrid sport and midnight flyboy) and I will keep the collection growing. Thank you Stauer and keep up the great work!

Vintage Aviation
The Stauer Co-Pilot has kept time flawlessly since I received my watch in early Spring. I work with an historical aviation magazine and have been looking for the right vintage aviation-themed watch at the right price for several years. The Co-Pilot exceeded my expectations. Reminiscent of the chronograhs from WWII, this watch definitely evokes a vintage RAF feel. The watch is larger, heavier, and more detailed in person than what I expected from any photos. The distressed leather strap is a fine compliment for this sturdy timepiece. As others have mentioned, instructions for utilizing the Co-Pilot’s other functions were somewhat lacking. Thank you to other reviewers for providing tips and directions. This watch may be well suited for the pilot of a Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX but I find its great for the office as well.

Nice watch, pathetic instructions
The watch so far is great. However, the instructions are REALLY bad, and could be vastly improved.
First, it's important to know that the second hand on the watch is really the timer second hand, not time of day. The timer start/stop button controls the second hand, and it could be bumped, stopping the timer. The hour/minute hands continue to keep time independent of start/stop. This was not clear from marketing or instructions. It took me quite a while to figure out the "second-dial" is just the red circle, since there's no inset dial that counts seconds. Please be clear on _all_ the parts.
Second, the instructions to reset the timer 0 position are self-contradictory: Pull crown to 2, reset second hand to 12:00, push crown to 0, but not if you reset the second hand to 12:00...huh?
Third, there are no instructions for the use of the slide bezel (w/ timer), which is the inspiration for this watch. This undercuts the watch's spirit.
Help people enjoy this watch!

Bezel is very hard to rotate
First, the negative: The bezel is extremely difficult to rotate. I've spent time rotating it, and it isn't getting much better. This is disappointing, since I actually know how to use a circular slide rule! I'm tempted to return it for exchange, but this would be the second time, and I don't really need the slide rule. It would be nice, though, if everything worked properly! Has anyone figured out a fix for this?
Now the positive: It looks great, all the other features work, and the first watch I received, which had a defective stopwatch reset and was also difficult to rotate, was exchanged without fuss.

Crystal immediately fell out
Watch looks niceseemed to keep time reasonably well for the short time I wore it....After receiving it, I wore it a few days until the crystal fell out....just disappeared one day! Gave it to the jewelry repair guy and he can't seem to be able to find the appropriate size crystal so he can fix it.

Love the copilot
I love the Copilot watch. This watch has the sliderule markings done very similar to the Breitling Navitimer. The stick markers situated the sliderule calculation numbers are are bigger than the adjacent smaller stick numbers as they should be. Yes. there are still people who use slide rules on watches and appreciate this detail. What would make this watch even more cool and could be done as a running change add lumes to at least the hour and minute hands. If possible add lumes to either the major numbers or lumed pips the minute numbers are 510 15 20 etc. The glow in the dark pips seem feasible.Sweeter yet add the Copilot slide rule details to the FLYBOY collection. How about lumed hands and pips on the FLYBOY collection

Beautiful Watch
I ordered this watch for myself even thought it is a men''s watch I''m a petite woman because I found it so aesthetically appealing. I love this watch to pieces it is sooooo beautiful - it is a work of art! Also its neutral tones coordinate with anything I might wear and I get compliments on it when I have it on. I don''t particularly need the extra functions it has but it keeps excellent time and that''s fine for me.

Co-Pilot Watch
I purchased this watch as Ii am an avid watch collector and have many of the Steuer Watch''s in my collection all of which of the highest quality and I believe to be well worth the price. My one disappointment with this watch is that the Bezel although it doe''s rotate and the calculations are acceptably accurate it is so hard to turn it makes it impossible to be used easily while on your wrist I am a pilot and do use the bezel feature a lot so to most people it might not be a problem my suggestion is if you do use the bezel try the pilot model which I have also purchased and it works very well. The Co-Pilot is very attractive and accurate my only issue is how hard the bezel is to rotate therefore I give it 4 stars instead of 5.

Bought for the look disappointed by quality
For the relatively short time I wore the watch I really liked it. I own a Breitling Jaeger LeCoultre and Chronoswiss but liked this watch for casual wear. Unfortunately the crystal fell off and was lost about three months into ownership.

Bought for the look disappointed by quality
Loved the look of this casual fashion watch. I have Breitling Jaeger LeCoultre and Chronoswiss watches but thought this was a good casual watch for everyday wear. I owned it for 4 months or so when the crystal fell off and the watch stopped working. I did not hit the watch against anything. At the price I wasn''t going to repair the watch. This was the first and last Stauer watch I''ll buy.
