I love being able to offer unique gemstones to our customers. I love it even more when those gemstones are produced by hardworking people right here in the United States.
The Sunstone Butte Mine (pronounced “beaut”) is owned and operated by Dave and Tammy Wheatley in southeast Oregon. Owing to the path of ancient lava flows, Dave and Tammy’s sunstones are unique in featuring strong red, green and teal colors, often in the same stone. These are also the only sunstones in the world to include glittering copper flakes, a subtle but wondrous optical effect.
The Gemological Institute of America visited the Wheatley’s mine and reported, “The gems from Sunstone Butte are among the finest we have seen, notable for their size and clarity as well as their dichroic nature.”
We’ve partnered with Dave and Tammy to bring you the Oregon Sunstone Ring, a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind American-born sunstone set in gold-finished sterling silver and studded with the ancient brilliance of white zircon rounds.
The other reason I love working with the Wheatleys is they share my passion for low pricing, selling below market value to ensure their product is treated correctly. That’s why we’re able to offer this American masterpiece for a price you will dig, which includes a signed certificate from the miners.
